Jennifer Thibodeau

Resilience is a central focus of my work as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe the narratives we create about ourselves and our relationships profoundly shape how we experience challenges and connect with others. My role as a therapist is not to remove life’s difficulties, but to support clients in developing strategies to navigate them with greater confidence and adaptability.

I work collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families to identify strengths, examine patterns, and cultivate healthier ways of relating that foster growth and well-being. Together, we explore meaning-making systems and address patterns that may no longer serve you, with the goal of creating sustainable and meaningful change.

I primarily draw from Narrative Therapy, while integrating interventions from CBT, DBT, the Gottman Method, Strategic Family Therapy, and Somatic approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. My approach is grounded in curiosity, respect, and a commitment to evidence-based practice, with the belief that all individuals and relationships have the capacity to evolve.

As a queer woman, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating identity in a heteronormative world and how vulnerable and overwhelming that process can feel. I also know the importance of having someone you trust to walk alongside you in that journey. This personal understanding shapes my work with the LGBTQIA+ community, where I provide gender-affirming care and a supportive space for clients to explore identity, sexuality, and self-expression. For me, therapy is not only a place for healing, but also an act of affirmation and empowerment. Beyond the therapy room, I remain committed to advocacy and activism, working toward equity, visibility, and systemic change for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families.
